Colas Északkő started to develop a solution for speeding up service, which entailed the simultaneous application of multiple weighbridges and the introduction of an access control platform. According to the original concept, we would have put together a system consisting of three weighbridges and two tablets, which would have provided loader operators with extra information and would have supported the tare weighing of incoming trucks. The latter function is crucial for preventing fines due to overloading.

Truck scales are capable of weighing vehicles of big size and are mass certified. The most important
characteristics are the dimension, the material of the weighing platform, and the weighing limit. These
characteristics are usually related to each other.
The scales are 3 m wide and range from 8 or 9 m to 20 m in length. The recommended length of the
platform is calculated by taking the longest vehicle to be weighed and adding + 1-1 m to the first and last axle
distance. The weighing capacity of the weighbridges is between 15-and 80 tons. Taking into consideration the allowed
axle loading the most in-demand truck scale is the one of 18 m length and 60 tons capacity.
Types: The different types are named VSH (concrete) and TMS (steel) depending on the concrete or steel
construction. By the type of mounting the scales can be executed with a pit (at the level of the ground) or without
a pit (with ramps on both sides).

ETS Road Vehicle Scales Family
Vehicle weighbridge family for surface or in-pit installation for loads from 30 to 120 tonnes. Thanks to its low-profile design, it can be installed with a short ramp and a small footprint. The ramp can be made of concrete (a cost-saving solution) or steel. With a steel ramp, the scale can be relocated more easily.
The weighbridge incorporates Flintec’s RC3 stainless steel weigh cells, which have the important feature of being 100% hermetically sealed. These sensors will not be damaged even if they are permanently submerged in water (the ceramic-glass feedthrough used is a Flintec patent).

In the past years, we have invested in a 30 tons/hour RIELA dryer (on which we perform a significant amount of drying activities), along with 6 silos of 2500 tons capacity each. In the meantime, there was also a panel storage system installed, 36 x 400 m in length and 50000 tons of capacity, where there is constant grain traffic. To help the transfer of grains we also have a digital weighbridge and 3 MANITOU loaders.
