How accurate can the livestock scale be?

Before weighing the livestock, be sure the livestock scale is accurate, stable, and animal friendly. The Scale accuracy is vital for both operator and weighing management team—accuracy of 1% on weighing animals with different sizes and weight.

Due to high technology, Livestock scales have advanced features such as Bluetooth, wife connectivity which can interact with the software used in farms and ranches. Thus, ensure digital data storage.

Weight measurement speed should be determined, as farms with many animals should opt for digital scale displays that record accurate data.

When does a livestock scale need to be recalibrated?

Most companies have a calibration policy to comply with their ISO or Quality System Procedures. Cub Lift Scale recommends a yearly calibration to ensure accurate weighing. Recalibration is the user’s responsibility.

Factors that may influence the Livestock scale calibration:

  • Changing heights
  • Gravity
  • External or internal calibration
  • Balances differences

When do I need to replace my Livestock scale?

When the Livestock scale is well serviced and maintained, it can have a long performance life.

  • Inaccurate readings with different scales

When the same load is weighed with different scales, the scale is assumed to be calibrated, and the measurements are inaccurate. It may be due to load cells loaded shock. The other cause may be the digital scale is overloaded.

  • Unstable readings

It is when the weight readings are not stable. Due to electronic and digital display malfunction, this happens when humidity is high, and loadcells may have humidity buildup.

  • Inconsistent scale readings

It may be the main reason why your livestock scale needs to be replaced. It is noted when the same weight loads record different weight readings. The correct scale should display zero once animal weight is recorded and offloaded. In case of changes in the reading of weights, the scale should be calibrated or replaced.

  • Readability of display

When the livestock scale operates experiences difficulties in readying the display. The cause may be due to power source, burn out of the display. Repairment may be done or replacement of the equipment.
